Mi gente (My people)

Tuesday night the boys and I stopped at Wal-Mart to get a few things before Karate. We were running in the parking lot so we could get in the truck because it was so cold. As I was getting the boys in the car I heard someone yell my name out. I turned around and saw the most wonderful people I know. Saida, Juan, and their 3 kids. They have been spanish investigators for a long time now and I have gained a wonderful friendship with them. Their oldest child is in my class now in primary so he was running up to me in the parking lot to hug me. The whole family was very excited to see me as I was of them. They were accompanied by a spanish member who I love dearly also, Irineo. At that moment I knew I needed to get their phone number. So I got it and I made some time in my schedule and called them to tell them I wanted to come and visit them this Friday.
It brings me now to tonight. I got a bunch of gifts together to bring for the kids and Saida and Juan and hauled the boys over in the freezing cold. Juan was working so it was just Saida and I and the kids. We had the best visit. While we were talking I expressed at what a hard time I was having with leaving my wonderful calling. She just looked at me with her beautiful smile and said, "I know you are and so are we all." She then told me that all of the spanish people are feeling the loss of my presence in class. She continued to say the kindest things to me that I needed to hear. One of the things she said was, "God knows what he is doing, you did everything you could with your calling, you touched many lives, including ours. Now you get to touch the lives of children, What an even greater blessing. God knows that you will do well, that is why he put you there, he knows you can do great things, Hermana (Sister)." We continued to have the best conversation. I felt uplifted, loved, and humbled. I knew my visit with Saida is what I needed. She is one of the kindest, most loving, humble, faithful people I know. When I left her apartment I knew the Lord was comforting me through her and that I will still feel the goodness that my calling gave me just by doing my part, visiting and serving the people I love the most.

The best part Joanna, is that you acted on the prompting to get their number to go visit from your impression. God watches over us, and hears our very thoughts. We never cease to be taught by the Spirit if we just listen. You did. God bless you. Thank you for sharing your insights and tender moments. You are loved by so many and I am so grateful for you to be my daughter(in-law). I love you and Michael so much and am pleased at how happy you all are. Your boys are precious. I miss them and you. Give them extra hugs, and Michael too. xoxoxox
Love, Anna
