No more bad news

The last few days all I have been hearing is bad news. It's not from my family but from others, some who I don't even know. It started with my neighbors who we love so much. They weren't married but boyfriend and girlfriend. My dear friend who is the girlfriend emailed me to tell me that she was leaving her boyfriend after many problems of him abusing prescription drugs and alcohol. I was shocked and saddened for he hid this problem quite well. They are both really good people trying to do good things in their life so you would never know that he had these problems. The problems he had I guess were so severe that a few days after my friend left, he overdosed.
A few days before he was rushed to the hospital I noticed in his driveway that he hadn't left for quite a few days. I kept having this feeling that something was seriously wrong, but I didn't want to get involved in his drug problem let alone have my boys see him all drugged up, so I pushed it to the back of my head. Then I saw his dad on Monday drive up and my feelings were even stronger that something was wrong and knew I needed to take the boys away that day. My feeling was correct because they found him, overdosed.
At the time I didn't know. I only found out last night when my dear friend came to the house to get her furniture and stuff. I was deeply saddened by this. For one I will miss her and only hope she will find somebody else and second, I want to leave this area. It isn't that I don't feel safe because I do, I know Heavenly Father is protecting us, I just long for my boys to have some kids their age to play with. This is just another problem that lies on this street that I want to stray far away from. The thing that is the most frustrating is why doesn't Heavenly Father help us move out of this area! Our house has been on the market for 2 years! I want to move! That isn't a lot to ask. I just know deep down inside Heavenly Father has our family here to help our neighbor and be an example for him. A while ago the sisters approached him on the street and had a wonderful conversation with him and he wanted to know more about the gospel but couldn't because he didn't think that my dear friend (his girlfriend would be receptive to it). Now that she isn't in the picture I wonder if it is the right time to bring the gospel to him, no one should be so unhappy that they feel the need to abuse the body so bad. I guess only time will tell.

The continued bad new was when I was watching a little bit of the news with my hubby the other day. I don't watch the news it depresses me way to much. This one story came up of these two little boys missing. They were at a babysitters and they wandered off. They were older but I guess they went over near a creek when there was a flash flood and drowned because the authorities found one of the boys in the water and are still looking for his brother. My heart breaks and also I question the babysitter, why wasn't she with the boys?
The last news was a request from a friend of mine to fast for this little girl. I didn't know who she was so I found their blog online and read about her. Her mother found her white and not breathing, when she went into her room to wake her up and had to do CPR and then was rushed to the hospital and died the next day, today. Her heart went into cardiac arrest and then brain damage from not breathing for so long. She was only a little over one years old. My heart goes out to the family.

So now you see how my last few days have gone. I don't want to hear anymore bad news. With this on my shoulders my boys have been extra annoying for me. On top of that I fell today. James and I have been running, he wants to run a 5K with me in August. Well, he ran in front of me and I tripped and feel, hard. Oh, boy do I just want to go to bed.

Oh that is so sad about your neighbor! That is so you, Jo, to have intuitions that something is wrong. You have always been close to Heavenly Father and I've always felt that from you. Even moreso when you had your little boys and worried so much about them. You've always been one that worried about others...always concerned if people are ok, or if things are alright. I so admire that about you.

It is so hard to hear bad news! And to know what Heavenly Father's will is for you...why your house isn't selling. I feel the same way...why have I not found someone yet...it isn't too much to ask...but I guess we just keep trusting His will and being righteous, knowing we are where we are for a reason.

When I was trying to sell my condo a few years back, it wasn't selling and I was so frustrated. I kept praying for it "to sell" every night and morning. Finally I listened to a talk by Elder Eyring and he said that one time he prayed all night for a certain thing to happen. Finally he changed his prayer to, "Please just let the right thing happen for me". So, the next prayer I said, I prayed in that way. Within 2 weeks my condo sold. The right thing will happen for you, Jo.

I love you!

Great counsel from your insightful friend, Joanna. You are very blessed, and I know it is difficult at times for you to feel stuck where you are. The Lord knows your heart and desires. He will fulfill them, in his time and way. You are at a time in your life for the next new thing...pray and ask just what that is and be willing to let HIM take you by the hand and answer your prayers. Love, Anna
